Principle of operation:

The moisture uptake or loss of a material is determined by measuring the increase or loss of weight. The samples are in an atmoshere with defined relative humidity at room temperature
  • The sample is placed in a Hygrostate with defined relative Humidity
  • The Hygrostate contains a saturated salt solution which sets a defined relative humidity within the airspace above the solution
  • The sample inside the Hygrostate is weighted with an analytical balance using a specially designed suspension
  • The weight of the sample is continuously measured and the results are transferred to ExcelŽ
  • Decrease and increase of weight characterize the humidity induced kinetics of a material
  • When equilibrium between the sample and the atmosphere inside the Hygrostate is reached, the user may change the Hygrostate and continue the measurements at a new relative humidity
  • The equilibrium values over the chosen humidity standards define the sorption isotherm of a material
